Pedestrian gates in Vallejo's older neighbourhoods are tight, period-sensitive work. Heritage District homes from 1860 to 1890 and the St. Vincent's houses from 1890 to 1915 sit close together on narrow lots, so side yard openings are non-standard and often very small. We choose the latching, hinges and any electric strike before the gate is drawn, so the frame is built around the hardware rather than the other way round.
